AH, 2.0.1, HOW DO WE LOVE YOU? LET US COUNT THE WAYS.
With some players coming to terms with the need to click twice to remove a curse and Warlocks wtfpwning them sideways in the Battlegrounds, attention is turning to other little patch nuances.
Like raid armor dropping that no one can use.
As seen at Foton’s (who may be a little annoyed at this, amongst other things);
With this patch we have released many features/changes in preparation for the upcoming expansion. One of these changes is that Paladin items will now be found by the Horde and Shaman items by the Alliance.
Although some of these classes might not be available by the opposite faction until the Burning Crusade release, this is indeed an intended change.
Try “Although both of these classes will not be available by the opposite faction until the Burning Crusade release”.
Oh, right. The Burning Crusade release. That’s the thing that is more than a month away, isn’t it?
Because adjusting some loot tables later is hard.
Tseric, putting on his Compassionate Hat, followed up by posting in another thread.
I'm sure it's easier to pass that judgement from your well-informed, armchair designing position. Because of the way in the whole expansion is being pushed out, the gap that we are currently in was expected to cause a number of issues. With so much content that is being pre-released, we are going to see a number of inconsistencies that will be resolved on release of the expansion. Plain fact is that this is about production schedules and not about you. This is needed for smooth production of the game, because when expansion hits and people are actually patching the rest of the content, we will have more pressing issues than going back to check some loot tables. This is about putting in order as much as we can as soon as we can, so when serious matters come down the road, we have as many resources available to address them quickly. Issues that, I assure you, will be more important than this. This isn't about you. It's about the game. Find something more worthwhile to complain about. This issue will not change until the expansion is released, so railing against me or anyone else on the boards is a categorical waste of your time.
Ahh, so it’s scheduling, not the players that matter. I’m glad we got that straight. Stupid uppity players.
But really, are Raiders, spending hour upon hour staring at a screen full of health bars and wading through waves of trash MOBs to get a bunch of Nexus Crystals in the form of a helmet, going to be rational enough to understand and accept this answer?
Maybe Tseric questioned this too. Soon after the post was made, the thread was deleted.

Well, since I'm a developer myself, I can sympathize with Tseric. I can see both sides of the fence, but I'm sure as hell glad I'm not in their shoes. I can see why he deleted the post, it was the brutal honest truth, but players don't give a damn about that anyway. They just want their next shiny. :P

There are two options here.
1) Updating the tables is really hard. Okay, now players hate you for being that short-sighted in design. Also, they have no pity for a company with billion-dollar revenues that cannot find an intern or temp to do the data entry at the appropriate time. Thousand of players would probably volunteer to do that, if you could trust them anywhere near the code.
2) Updating the tables is not really hard. Is your argument that you mis-scheduled the update or that you could not be bothered to take the hour at the appropriate time? It sounds like the latter. Now this is just me, and I don't play WoW, and I may be short-sighted here, but as a player, I would rather have something wrong with the expansion for an hour or a day or whatever, instead of something wrong with raids for a month or more. Maybe there is a benefit-cost that I am not seeing there.
In any service-driven industry, "This isn't about you" is rarely the right answer.

Serves the Alliance right... Horde has been picking up Paladin crap ever since launch. At least Alliance hunters can use most shaman type gear that drops.
I know it is class specific gear, but boo fucking hoo. either you want the expansion to launch smoothly or you don't.
People will bitch when there are problems at the expansion, but if it goes smooth people will still bitch. Blizzard is just spreading it out.

Like I said over on Broken Toys,
So basically they don't have enough staff to deal with the expansion. Class.
When you have that sort of userbase, what Tseric posted is called a...what was it, ah yes, "excuse".

Players don't have to "want" it to go smoothly, it should be a foregone conclusion that it will. This is afterall, a paid service and it's Blizzard's problem to sort out how to deploy TBC without disrupting the current game. What about people who aren't going to buy the xpac? They get to deal with the BS why? Because players pay to play and CMs like Tseric are paid to do their jobs, excuses and flippant comments don't wash.
Let me see one of you try that the next time you f-up and work with your boss, person who pays your salary, and let us know how you fair. Ok?
When it comes to customer services, people need to stop the it's a game mentality - it is a paid service like anything else and customers demand quality. And when you screw up, you're going to hear about it. It really is that simple. I pay for HBO and I don't give a rat's butt what Comcast might be upgrading to give me better service later, if I suddenly start getting Cinemax, someone is going to hear something. And if their answer is you're getting Cinemax now to enable some other crap later, my response won't be kind or pleasant. WOW is no different. People are p-a-y-i-n-g to play it, on top of investing time.
