I just
turned down an opportunity to work at a MMO developer.
The line
to kick my arse forms over there to the left. I call first dibs.

Having turned down several offers to interview with MMO and game developer studios/companies in the past couple years, it really is for the best . . .
. . . at least until (if?) the housing market turns around and I can unload my albatross of mortgage debt.
If you get any kind of vibe, feeling, or worry in your gut that working for the game company might not be the best thing for you financially, then definitely don't do it. It could be the most fun you'll ever have for six weeks until the paychecks stop coming in, or the studio gets bought, or the game is cancelled. I couldn't accept any of the offers and my wife later had her long anticipated "I told you so!" and "I'm glad you didn't take that job because we'd be homeless with an unsold house in Seattle" conversations, so I suppose it worked out for the best in the end.

I already work for a game company. I'd like to say I resisted your doomsaying but damn, I feel a sudden urge to check my bank balance right about now.
