Well, it looks like, in the end, they actually realized "hey, we kind of scrwed up".

Still annoyed by the dismissive attitude in the e-mails -- same thing happened to a guildmember. Got banned for teleporting and use of third-party software, Blizzard said not to contact them because their decision was final.

In the end, his account got restored because they realized the teleporting was actually their own bugtastic code.

WoW is a public place and they must grant access to the handicapped.

The government needs to step in and force all of the MMOG folks to deal with this.

I mean come on... These games are a fucking Gawd send to the handicapped. Show a modicum of social responsibility MMORPG devs / producers and get something actually meaningful done.

Christ on a crutch give the games away to children’s hospitals and such... Don’t make me ask again. Fuck. And don’t give me any nonsense about control of who plays and shit. If you spent 30 seconds at a children’s hospital JOHN SMEDLEY (YOU NEED THIS KIND OF POSITIVE PR RIGHT NOW.) you’d hurt yourself handing out game boxes and CPUs.

I'm kind of on Blizzards side of the fence on this one. Only for the following reasons, one, they can't tell who's playing behind the keyboard. Two, nobody knows if the guy is honest about what happened, and Three, They can't take each case someone kicks and screams that they got wronged and review it to measure for fairness. If they wish to review the case, and decided that indeed the ban was unnecessary, then that's a boon for the owner. If Blizzard doesn't, well that's Blizzards decision. If it means the account holder is spurned, well I guess he's learned now that such games aren't made to be all that compatable with the handicap.

Want to raise a fuss about accessability to the handicap, well fine raise a fuss, but I'm in the firm belief that, if the facility isn't being funded by public funds, then they should have strong latitude about who they can or can not serve. Yes, this is kind of old school thinking but, I believe in freedom, absolute freedom. And that usually means someone's going to get pissed off. But, you can make a statement with your dollar, and convince others to follow suit if you don't like it. Freedom works both ways.

Now, the smartest thing to do, IS be totaly accessable to all individuals but sometimes, you just can't do it. And sadly, their is nothing that can be done about this. You occasionaly have to penalize a few, to ensure the remaining majority are on an even playing field.

Sucks to the account holders though.
